Hello and thank you for taking the time to find out more about Adaptive Video Productions and its owner.  My full name is Marvin Jeffery Cox, however, I prefer Jeff.

I have done freelance work for Fox Sports Net Rocky Mountain, ESPN, American Cable Television, and ShowBiz USA Beauty Pageant (footage on Entertainment Tonight).  I am also the Videographer for the Denver Area Square and Round Dance Council, and also helped with the University of Colorado, Sports Broadcasting Class coverage of Women Sports.

In November 1989 I started out as a production assistant for a community access program called "Dancing Around Denver."   My first position with "Dancing Around Denver" was that of Floor Director. I also learned how to set lights, operate a video camera and some editing techniques.

Dianne Gum, the producer of "Dancing Around Denver", encouraged me to start producing my own show.  In January 1990 I decided to start producing "Technology Made Simple."  The first show was taped in February and covered computer hardware.  "Technology Made Simple" has covered subjects ranging from Radio programming, to Space Simulations.  KOSI/KEZW help with the radio programming by allowing the show to be taped with one camera entirely on location.  This was my first entirely edited program.  Martin Marietta helped with the Space simulation program by allowing my crew and I access to come in and tape some footage of the Space Operation Simulation Laboratory.  In addition, Martin Marietta also provided footage of actual space missions to be used in the show.

In the fall of 1990, American Cablevision asked me to help crew with some of their productions.  I worked both studio and remote productions.  My primary responsibility for "Life at Ken Caryl," was audio and set design.  American Cablevision remote productions provided for additional camera experience as well as experience in the setting up and tearing down of a mobile production unit. My working relationship with American Cablevision ended in 1993 with the sell of American Cablevision to TCI.

In December 1990, I arranged the use of a mobile production unit to produce "The Secret of Christmas" as presented by the "Denver Mile High Barbershop Chorus."  Since space was limited inside the truck, not only did I produce the show but I also directed it.  As was the common practice at American Cablevision, and community access, the director also served as the technical director and the Audio operator also served as the videotape operator. In addition to producing my television show I have experienced in audio, video, camera, editing, lighting, directing, floor directing, and technical directing

I continued to videotape weddings and special events.  One such event was the 1997 "National ShowBiz USA Beauty Pageant".  The pageant was held south of Las Vegas, Nevada at the Primadonna Resort in Primm, Nevada.   When "Entertainment Tonight" needed some footage for a story on the executive Director of ShowBiz USA, Eleanor VonDuyke, I was able to provide them with the footage they needed.

In October 2001 I had my fist opportunity to cover Sports At the University of Colorado with Fox Sports (Production Assistant for a Football game). My fist job for ESPN was that of a Tape Operator at the Colorado Avalanche game on January 17th (an ESPN 2 production). I also help with the coverage of women sports as covered by the School of Journalism and Mass Communications, Sports Broadcasting Class (Audio Director, Camera Operator, Technical Director, Tape Operator, and one game as Producer).

In my spare time I enjoy Square and Round Dancing. I have been asked and accepted the position of videographer for the Denver Area Square And Round Dance Association. As the videographer I videotape special dances sponsored by the Council.  I usually videotape the dances using my own multi-camera mobile production equipment.  I also will videotape special presentations such as induction into the Denver Area Square and Round Dance Hall of Fame. I will usually use one camera and then edit the tape. I am also involved with Round Dancer as a dance leader known as a cuer.  A Round Dance Cuer would be the equivalent of a Square Dance Caller.

. Other past and present Memberships include Community Producers Network, Order of the Engineer, The Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, and the Northeast Colorado Callers and Cuers Association.

In December 2003 I earned my Bachelor of Science Degree in Journalism with an emphasis on Broadcast Production from School of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Colorado. I also attended the Denver Campus of the University of Colorado and graduated in December 1986 with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.  In January 1991 The State of Colorado granted me my Engineer-in-Training certificate after passing the required exam.
